Domaine des Violettes is located outside the small town of Domazan, on the western side of the Rhône river, just west of Avignon. The Domaine is on the border of the Gard and Vaucluse, two major sub-regions known for their distinctively different soils, and wines. The soil around Domazan is blend of limestone and clay, rather than being dominated by one or the other. This gives the wine softness and poise but also modest structure and potent aromatics.
